Behind the Scenes: MaxxPit by Blanc Designs X Maxxis

Kian Hon Tyres and Blanc Designs launched the very first Maxxis Concept Store: MaxxPit in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.

Kian Hon Tyres, the sole distributor of Maxxis tyres in Malaysia, engaged Blanc Designs as the concept store idea creator for the automotive servicing industry.

Blanc Designs is a turnkey (design and build) and creative marketing agency. Founded by Helen Tan and Crystal Wong who share the same vision of enabling people to see and live arts in any form, structure or context. To create the first Maxxis concept store, they have incorporated lifestyle elements into the traditional car workshop.

Maxxis is the global leading tyre producer. The three core values: 100% quality, 100% service, 100% trust make up the foundation of Maxxis. Maxxis always strives to be at the cutting edge of technology and thrives on delivering high standards of service and products customer can trust. In order to help Maxxis implement such high caliber of creativity and innovation, Blanc Designs has pioneered MaxxPit as a new environment for both lifestyle and business activities.

MaxxPit is a portmanteau of Maxxis and pit-stop. Pit-stop is a place where an automotive stops for refuelling and maintenance during a race. It also refers to a brief rest stop that travellers made during their long journey. Like its namesake, MaxxPit provides a range of consistently Maxximum quality vehicular services for 4x4 vehicles, trucks, lorries and passenger cars to Maxxis customers. When customers come for services, they have the privilege of indulging themselves with a nice brew of Maxxis coffee and other refreshments, sit back and relax at the lounge. With MaxxPit, servicing your car can be just as pleasant, comfortable and exclusive as shopping for a designer product.

Lifestyle is an element of arts. MaxxPit is not only a stylish workshop that fulfils consumers' vehicular maintenance needs, but also a lounge for creative thinking, reading and relaxation. "We want to provide a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere for customers to unwind and refresh while their vehicle is serviced. Customers can conveniently “refresh and roll” at MaxxPit before continuing their journey on the road," Helen explained.

Blanc Designs has succeeded in transforming a typical tyre workshop to a lifestyle-based tyre workshop. Maxxis plans to open 15 more MaxxPit concept stores across Peninsular Malaysia in the coming three years.

MaxxPit is designed with two main spaces, namely MaxxPit workshop and MaxxPit lounge, that are comprised of both stylish and functional elements. Painted arrows on the wall uplift the workshop atmosphere. These arrows symbolise Maxxis' forward thinking vision.

The workshop signage is creatively designed with repurposed nuts and bolts, a physical manifestation of the principle of a Maxxis workshop — waste no time, let's get down to the nuts and bolts of servicing the vehicle.

The random permutations of Maxxis words printed on a glass panel gives Maxxis brand a memorable futuristic edge.

The floor paint logo is designed to maximise branding and to engrave Maxxis brand name in the customers' hearts and minds

Behind the glass window, the hanging art installation is created by painting recycled Maxxis tyres. Each tyre displays letters spelling out the brand name MAXXIS.

In front of the lounge, receptionists greet customers behind a chic and elegant black reception counter. The reception counter is designed with triple LED-lit arrows to reflect Maxxis' forward moving vision. Beside each LED-lit arrow, is another arrow exclusively crafted with mRED (maximum Resistance, Eco-friendliness and Durability) tread liner.

An E-Book corner provides tablets convenient for browsing through Maxxis E-Book. In it, customers can find out more about Maxxis promotions, latest news and updates.

We've created a tyre-based circular display shelf for Maxxis merchandise. Like the reception counter, double arrows with mRED tread liner beside the shelf is used.
